Xcel's rebates, its Whole Home Efficiency bonus of 25% on the standard rebates, the State of Colorado heat pump discount and Power Ahead Colorado can all pay on the same house. The order you do things in decides how much of it you keep.
Before any work
- Have Xcel's Home Energy Squad Plus visit, or a blower door or infrared audit from a participating contractor.
- Enroll at xcelenergy.com/WholeHomeEfficiency before any upgrade starts.
- Hire contractors on Xcel's Whole Home Efficiency list. Each files its own rebate, and checks arrive 8 to 10 weeks after Xcel gets the paperwork.
What each one pays

On air sealing and insulation, a house heated by Xcel gas also gets a bonus of 1.5 times the standard rebate. The State discount is claimed by a registered contractor and shows on its invoice. Power Ahead's contractor applies before work starts, and it doesn't cover water heaters.
How the 25% works
Three or more qualifying upgrades within two years of enrolling could add 25% of each one's standard rebate, paid once the third is done. Xcel's gas bonus doesn't count toward it. In an example job, with air sealing at its cap, that is $400 for air sealing, $2,625 of a 3.5-ton heat pump's $5,250 and $750 of a gas-replacing water heater's $1,500: $3,775 in standard rebates, so the bonus is $944. Xcel's sheet ties the bonus to houses heated by Xcel gas; for any other house, ask Xcel before you count on it.
A one-room mini-split and a smart thermostat don't count toward three.
Confirm with Xcel
- Whether the furnace in a heat pump and furnace job counts as its own upgrade. Until Xcel says so, count the two as one.
- Amounts for work invoiced in 2027.
